It was with our greatest thanks to present the EPSC award for
Lifetime Achievement to our dear friend Professor Fernando Albericio.
Having first pursued a chemistry degree in 1972, he began studying peptides.
His first paper was published in 1979 where he synthesised modified versions of histidine.
From there he joined the University of KwaZula-Natal in South Africa and is deeply involved in the transferral of knowledge and technology to society.
To this day, Fernando continues to make a major impact for peptide science working towards greener peptide synthesis with improved solvents and protecting groups.
Fernando has published over 900 papers, co-authored 4 books, and >55 patents.
Congratulations on 50 years of innovation, technical leadership, and mentoring towards peptide science.
